I was still laughing about Kimi’s missing towel from Monaco and suddenly the Barcelona Grand Prix was already here. No long break, no boring weekend without F1 – just straight back into another race. Honestly, this is how I want the calendar to be.
Kimi finally received his new towel with “To Kimi, from Kim” written on it and even appeared in the grandstand wearing a Spider-Man mask. He was clearly enjoying Barcelona before the race, but Sunday had a different plan for him.
Hamilton started beside Russell and Ferrari decided to try a three-stop strategy. My first thought was, oh God, Ferrari are trying to be clever again… what could possibly go wrong?
But Hamilton was flying.
Then the Virtual Safety Car arrived at exactly the right time and Ferrari brought him in for his final stop. For once, everything worked perfectly. No confusion, no strange radio conversation and no opportunity thrown away. Ferrari actually got it right.
Hamilton returned to the track in the lead and simply disappeared. Watching him finally win his first Grand Prix in Ferrari red genuinely felt special. After all the struggles and questions around his move, he finally got his moment.
Kimi passed Russell for second near the end, but almost immediately his car broke and he stopped on the grass. Five wins in a row and then suddenly nothing. He found his missing towel in Barcelona but lost the podium instead. F1 has a strange sense of humour sometimes.
Max finished fourth, but honestly, I kept waiting for him to do something and that moment never arrived. As his fan, it wasn’t the exciting race I wanted from him, but at least he collected decent points.
Russell and Norris joined Hamilton to create the first all-British podium since 1968, while Novak Djokovic waved the chequered flag. That was a proper sporting moment.
I rate the 2026 Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix a solid A2W 8.5/10.
This wasn’t the Max race I wanted, but it was Hamilton’s Ferrari moment and I was glad I watched it happen.
