Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, Maybe We Should Give This Supercar a Chance. #7 A2W Car Spotlight
Ask someone to name an Italian supercar and Ferrari or Lamborghini will probably arrive before you finish the question. Meanwhile, Alfa Romeo has the 33 Stradale, and I think we need to give it a minute before everyone starts arguing about which Lamborghini they would buy.
Including me. I am very much part of that problem, to be honest!
The modern 33 Stradale takes its inspiration from Alfa’s 1967 original. Those flowing curves, the low body and the butterfly doors have a history behind them, which makes this rather more interesting than simply another expensive car with doors that refuse to open normally.

Production is limited to 33 cars, and all are already sold. Lovely. I can now discuss whether I would buy one without my bank account interrupting the conversation.
And since buying one is conveniently out of the question, let me explain why I was looking at it in the first place. I saw it in red with black details and, aaaah, that combination got my attention. Those are Ankit2World colours, so there is already a little favouritism happening here. Although, to be honest, red and black could make a few of my questionable purchases look convincing to me.

Back to the Alfa Romeo, the shape is where things become complicated. I like the low stance and the way the body flows around the cabin, but the longer I look at the front, the less certain I am. I keep changing the angle, hoping the next photograph will help me decide how I feel about it. LOL

It is like going on a first date with an attractive woman, then spending a little more time with her and realising you do not quite feel the same way anymore. There probably won’t be a second date. She might eventually become someone’s wife, just not mine. LOL. And before the girls come for me, the scenario works the other way around too, alright?
That is probably the easiest way to explain my feelings about this Alfa. I love Lamborghini’s sharpness and Bentley’s roundness, as you already know from my Continental GT spotlight. But I wouldn’t ask them to have a baby and expect it to look like the 33 Stradale. I like both parents. That does not mean I have agreed to this arrangement.
Still, just because I am not planning our future together does not mean I wouldn’t like to drive it.
With a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6, a claimed top speed of 333 km/h and 0–100 km/h in under three seconds, there is plenty here to make me forget about the looks for a while. I might have a few complaints about the face, but I doubt I would be discussing them while accelerating.

And looking inside makes me even more curious. Those ribbed seats look inviting, and the steering wheel is refreshingly free of buttons. I haven’t driven it, so I cannot tell you how comfortable it actually is, but the cabin looks like somewhere I would enjoy spending time rather than counting down until I could stretch my legs again.
So yes, I think we should give the 33 Stradale a chance. It has the history, the performance and enough character to deserve our attention. It just hasn’t made me feel the way a Lamborghini or Bentley does, and that is fine. Someone else will look at this car and feel everything I don’t.
Alfa, I said no to the wedding. You can still take me out for a one-night drive.
