The Chevrolet Corvette Is Like American Muscle Discovering Italian Fashion #5 A2W Car Spotlight
Some cars look good in photographs. The Chevrolet Corvette looks fast even when it is parked, as if it is waiting for somebody to start the engine and create a small problem for the neighbours.
Chevrolet has always been close to me. I have driven one for long enough to know that it can be comfortable, loyal and wonderfully free of unnecessary drama. I will not tell you which one, because I do not want anybody judging my poor-life car history.
But the Corvette is different.

If I ever become a millionaire, one of these will be joining my collection. Probably in black, because the Corvette already looks aggressive and black would make it look like it has arrived to scare you off.
The Stingray is the starting point, but calling it basic would be deeply disrespectful. The latest version has a 6.7-litre V8 producing 535 horsepower and can reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds with the Z51 package. That is not an entry-level experience. That is Chevrolet politely warning you not to become overconfident.
Then there is the E-Ray, which adds hybrid power and all-wheel drive. It is the Corvette for someone who wants speed, extra grip and the ability to pretend they have made a sensible decision.
Then comes the Z06, this one becomes serious. It uses a naturally aspirated 5.5-litre V8 producing 670 horsepower, with a wider body and a track-focused attitude. It sounds like the sort of car that would judge your corner entry before you even reach the corner.

The Grand Sport returns for 2027 and sits between the Stingray and Z06. It keeps the 535-horsepower V8 but adds a wider body, stronger brakes and more track-focused equipment. Basically, it has been to the gym but still knows how to enjoy a weekend while eating everything.
Then ZR1, which is my favourite.
This is the Corvette I would choose if somebody handed me a ridiculous amount of money and told me to make one irresponsible decision. It has a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 producing 1,064 horsepower, along with the wider body and serious aerodynamics. The performance is so extreme that your driving license may need emotional support and good lamination.

The ZR1X then takes everything even further with hybrid all-wheel drive and 1,250 horsepower. Do I need that much power? No. Would I still stare at it for an unreasonable amount of time? Obviously.
For me, the Corvette’s biggest strength is its design. The sharp nose, low stance and those unbelievable rear lights give it a shape that looks fast even when it is parked outside a supermarket.
It sits in that beautiful space between American muscle and modern Italian supercar. I still love the Lamborghini Aventador and Revuelto, but the Corvette does not need to copy them. It has its own attitude, its own sound and its own way of making people stop and forget what they were doing.
And yes, I would happily take the ZR1 in black. The car would look like Batman who has stopped saving people and started scaring them.
So, if I ever build that dream garage, the ZR1 gets the best parking space.
I promise.
