What’s up, peeps? It’s your friendly neighborhood blogger here, ready to review the highly anticipated sequel to the Halloween classic, “Hocus Pocus 2.” Let me just start by saying that I was beyond excited to see this movie. I mean, who doesn’t love a good old-fashioned witchy adventure, am I right? And let me tell you, “Hocus Pocus 2” did not disappoint.
First of all, the cast was spot on. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reprised their roles as the Sanderson sisters and brought all of the hilarity and mischief that we know and love. And can we talk about the new additions to the cast? Emily Hampshire as a snarky modern-day witch and Sam Richardson as a lovable goofball were absolute scene stealers.
But let’s get to the nitty-gritty. Was the plot as spellbinding as the first movie? In my opinion, yes! The story follows Max and Allison’s daughter, who accidentally brings the Sanderson sisters back to life (oops!). From there, we’re treated to all kinds of hijinks as the witches try to adapt to modern-day life while also trying to achieve their ultimate goal: immortality.
Without giving too much away, I will say that there were plenty of callbacks to the first movie that had me grinning from ear to ear. And the special effects? Top-notch. The witches’ magical abilities looked even more impressive this time around.
Now, I will admit that there were a few moments that felt a bit cheesy, but come on, it’s a movie about witches and talking cats. Cheesy is part of the charm!
Overall, “Hocus Pocus 2” was a delightful and hilarious addition to the franchise. It had me cackling with laughter, tapping my toes to the catchy musical numbers, and wishing I could cast a spell or two myself. So grab your broomsticks and settle in for a wickedly good time!
